On Sunday, April 23rd, Professor Juanamaria Cordones-Cook was honored with the 2023 MISC International Recognition Award (Faculty). The award was presented at a ceremony gathering students, faculty, and community members to celebrate International Student Life at MU. In their laudatio, the student presenters of the award wrote the following:

Dr. Cordones-Cook does research focusing on the convergence of arts and letters and social concerns, and has always concentrated on marginal non-canonical voices, literature and culture of women and Afro-descendants. She is also a filmmaker that has made wonderful documentaries that got nominated for an Emmy.
